OUR SCHOOL

HISTORY

The Children’s House was founded in 1965 by Mary Los Baños as Waipahu Nursery School, located in the facility of Waipahu United Church of Christ. In 1967, two exceptional men, Harold Kometani of the Momilani Land Co. and Gilbert Hayashi, CPA, helped Mary Los Baños expand her vision. With their help, the school made the move to the Pearl City area and opened its doors for greater enrollment in 1968.

In 1999, The Children’s House was gifted by its founder, Mary Los Baños and became a non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Trustees chosen for their expertise in business and education.

CAMPUS

Located at 1840 Komo Mai Drive on over four acres of land, the campus includes beautiful landscaping, spacious open classrooms, a large tree-shaded yard for outdoor work and play, a center pavilion for special programs, lunches, assemblies and physical education, an upper pavilion for art and special activities. There is also a music room for daily and after school classes, and a chapel where the children come to learn of the love of Jesus, our Good Shepherd. Every day our children see our beautiful Good Shepherd statue as they enter the campus in the morning and leave in the afternoon. The campus is backed by a running stream, providing a unique opportunity to study Hawaii’s natural beauty up close. All of our campus is designed to be an extension of our classroom areas.

ACCREDITATION
