The Children's House
Overview of Program & Curriculum

PaintingThe Children’s House Hawaii has found through the years that it is important to carefully observe each child and move them along developmentally at their own "time clock." We feel that undue pressure at an early age can diminish their joy in learning.  We use the Montessori materials that allow the child to move developmentally at their own comfortable pace.  Each piece of material hooks back to the previous learned skill.

The child learns best through the use of their hands.  They manipulate materials that they have selected.  The teacher will guide them to make wise choices and encourage them to try new activities that are challenging.  We want our students to become independent and eager learners.

The student learns that God created and loved all the He created and that we are to care for all that He has provided for us.  Thus our program places a strong emphasis on the care of our aina (land). Our Hawaiiana Program has many hands-on activities both in and out of the classroom.

Music is a beautiful part of our program in all grades.  Consistent with our emphasis on Hawaii, the ukulele is taught in our music program from Grade One through Grade Six.

Our physical education program provides activities for each age level.  In addition to our weekly classes, our students enjoy morning movement exercises set to music.
